The new AI-powered feature allows users to log meals by simply taking a photo of their dish, making nutrition tracking faster and more accessible for millions of users.

Amsterdam, March 24, 2026 – Virtuagym, global provider of the leading all-in-one club management and coaching software, is introducing the MAX AI Food Scanner, a new feature now available within VirtuaFood App, the company’s consumer nutrition tracking app.

With the implementation of the AI Food Scanner, users will be able to log meals by simply taking a photo of their dish. The system analyzes the image and estimates which foods are present and their portion sizes and links this with Virtuagyms 7M+ food database. This provides a faster and more accessible way to track nutrition, reducing the effort of manual entry while still giving users enough accuracy to make conscious dietary decisions.

The feature is now available for users and forms part of Virtuagym’s broader development of AI-powered capabilities across its platform. Today, over 36 million consumers worldwide use Virtuagym apps, making the introduction of new AI-driven capabilities an important step in scaling intelligent health and fitness tools across one of the largest digital fitness ecosystems in the industry.

Expanding the MAX AI ecosystem

The AI Food Scanner is part of Virtuagym’s broader AI-first strategy, built around MAX AI, the company’s new AI innovation branch dedicated to developing intelligent tools that assist fitness businesses and their members across coaching, engagement, and operations.

One of the first tools developed within this initiative is MAX AI Coach, allowing trainers to generate fully personalized multi-day workout plans in as little as 20 seconds, using Virtuagym’s exercise library and the client’s personal data and health metrics.

By automating one of the most time-consuming parts of coaching preparation, MAX AI Coach helps trainers work more efficiently while maintaining personalized support for their clients. Instead of spending time building workout programs manually, coaches can focus more on guiding and motivating their members.

“The launch of MAX AI Coach was an important step in our mission to make coaching more scalable and efficient,” said Hugo Braam, CEO of Virtuagym. “Similarly, the new MAX AI Food tracking capability will allow our millions of end-users to more efficiently track their daily food consumption, which before was considered a quite manual and tedious task. It’s another step in our mission to utilise artificial intelligence to help make our clients’ lives easier. .”

AI inside a connected fitness platform

Virtuagym’s MAX AI solutions. are designed to strengthen the capabilities of its broader software ecosystem. The MAX AI Food Scanner is part of Virtuagym’s broader vision to build a connected platform where management, coaching, and engagement work seamlessly together. Like MAX AI Coach, the MAX AI Food Scanner will be trained and optimized on Virtuagym’s multi-million end-user base first, before being made available to their business clients later this year.

The company continues to expand AI-powered capabilities across its platform, helping fitness businesses operate more efficiently while supporting millions of users in building healthier habits.
