Virtuagym, the global provider of fitness technology for coaching, member engagement, and club management, has today launched Virtuagym FitZone, a new technology-driven engagement tool to support fitness businesses by increasing member motivation and retention, building community and providing further revenue streams.
The new feature enables clubs to visualise the effort of members via heart-rate tracking and use it for gamification and social interaction, creating a unique virtual experience using Virtuagym’s in-app FitZone Hub. The gamified heart-rate tracking solution is initially launched to fitness clubs, studios and entrepreneurs in the Benelux region ahead of a future global launch.
The Virtuagym FitZone feature is fully integratable with a fitness club’s branded mobile app. This means it can seamlessly connect users and give them the flexibility to work out together, and view their progress over time, whether they are doing in-club sessions, at home video workouts or outdoor training, delivering a true hybrid training experience.
Utilising gamification to allow users to compete with one another and measure performance in a positive, group environment also represents an ideal way to encourage members to return to gym’s following the recent relaxation of industry restrictions. Once a workout is finished, the client’s results measuring heart rate zone, percentage of output and BPM are displayed in the FitZone Hub. This data can be used by coaches and trainers to inform more personalised fitness experiences and training plans for their clients.

The launch of Virtuagym FitZone follows an increasing rise in the use of fitness tracking technology, with wearables predicted by health professionals to be the number one trend in 2022. Recent customer data has shown that Virtuagym’s progress tracking and community features are their most popular globally, with 88% of clubs actively using the Virtuagym progress tracker. Moreover, a global customer survey at the end of 2021 revealed that over half (51%) of Benelux fitness clubs felt that offering a hybrid online and offline experience and membership flexibility was vital to attracting new members.
Used in combination with the NEO Health GO and Pulse devices, Virtuagym FitZone also provides fitness businesses with the opportunity to generate further revenue through wearable sales to clients, who can use them to track metrics from steps to calories or sleep, wherever they are.
